Ilham Aliyev Calls Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev called Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan

On August 10, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had a phone conversation with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan.

During the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s recent visit to Azerbaijan, including to Karabakh, and the discussions held within that framework were recalled with satisfaction.

President Ilham Aliyev and Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov touched upon the development of friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries.

The importance of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held in the city of Avaza, Turkmenistan, was highlighted during the call. The head of state congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the successful organization of the event.

The conversation also addressed the documents signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to the United States, particularly the declaration signed by the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia in the presence of the U.S. President, the initialing of the agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the joint appeal regarding the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. These developments were noted as significant for ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.

The head of state emphasized the special role of U.S. President Donald Trump in achieving these outcomes and expressed confidence that the establishment of an unobstructed transport link between the main part of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan region would contribute to the prosperity of the entire region.

The Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan extended his congratulations to the head of state and the people of Azerbaijan on the historic agreements reached.

President Ilham Aliyev asked that his greetings be conveyed to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also conveyed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s greetings and congratulations to the Azerbaijani head of state.

During the phone conversation, the parties exchanged views on future contacts.
