Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Presents Credentials to New Zealand’s Governor-General

Wellington, July 16, 2025 — In a formal ceremony held at Government House in Wellington, Atadurdy Bayramov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to New Zealand (residing in Tokyo), officially presented his credentials to Her Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand, Dame Cindy Kiro.

During the presentation, Ambassador Bayramov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening friendly relations and expanding cooperation with New Zealand across multiple sectors.

Governor-General Kiro expressed her appreciation for the message from Turkmenistan’s leadership and, in turn, asked the Ambassador to relay her own warm regards and best wishes to President Berdimuhamedov and Chairman Berdimuhamedov.

As part of his visit to New Zealand, Ambassador Bayramov also held a series of diplomatic meetings on July 15. He met with Rod Harris, Head of the European Department at New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration in political, economic, and cultural fields.

Additional discussions took place with the Head of the Protocol Department of the Ministry, as well as with the Ambassadors of México and Türkiye to New Zealand. These meetings focused on current bilateral issues and avenues for future cooperation.
