Selecting members should rest on the combination of language, communication competence and entrepreneurial motivation, says Prof. Dr. Hazrat Jabbarov. Academic success is the foundation, but not enough alone. Business Diplomat: Beyond Grades

Whom should a platform choose? Prof. Dr. Hazrat Jabbarov’s answer weighs three qualities and says what each contributes. In this part of its interview series, Business Diplomat presents it.

First observation: not one or the other
“These skills cannot be separated from each other, but from a psychological and professional point of view, the decisive factor is the combination of foreign language, communication competence and high entrepreneurial motivation.”

Second observation: three roles
Academic success is “the foundation.” Intellectual capacity is needed to absorb knowledge and think logically, but “it alone is not sufficient.” Communication competence is the main tool: “empathy, social perception and knowledge of languages help overcome interpersonal barriers and adapt quickly to the modern communication environment.” Entrepreneurial motivation is “the driving force.”

Third observation: what to look for
In judging motivation, Jabbarov suggests considering candidates’ inner drive, stress resilience and “striving for results without giving up in difficult situations.” Selection should therefore give priority “not only to high grades, but to the candidate’s psychological stability, active motivation and communicative potential.”

The logic of the assessment
The three qualities work together. Grades build the foundation; communication is the tool; motivation is the engine. Selection should therefore look at the whole person.

The role of Business Diplomat
The platform’s mission is to give young people experience, bring a diplomatic order to the business world, and benefit states by revitalising the economy. Jabbarov’s criteria can be turned into an application and interview process. Business Diplomat can include questions on communication and perseverance as well as academic results.

Conclusion
Members should be chosen for the combination of ability, communication and drive, not for grades alone. Business Diplomat aims to select people in that way.
