Aliyev: A Peacemaker Statesman
Since taking office, Ilham Aliyev has consistently promoted peace as the foundation of stability in the South Caucasus. This vision culminated on August 8, 2025, with a historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, signed at the White House under U.S. mediation. Following Azerbaijan’s restoration of sovereignty after the 2020 Karabakh war, Aliyev pursued diplomacy with restraint and persistence. His initiatives, including the Zangezur Corridor, aim to enhance regional connectivity, trade, and cooperation. The 2025 agreement underscores Aliyev’s role as a statesman who transformed prolonged conflict into dialogue and regional integration.
