Breakthrough for Kazakhstan

WIPO Global Innovation Index 2026:

Kazakhstan climbed 8 positions to rank 73rd globally—the country's best historical result in the last 10 years. In the Central and Southern Asia subregion, Kazakhstan secured 2nd place, yielding only to India and surpassing Iran (76th) and Uzbekistan (77th).

THE World University Rankings 2027:

Historic precedent: Nazarbayev University entered the global Top-400 (376–400 band) for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan's higher education, taking 1st place in the CIS, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.

Scale of presence: 10 Kazakhstani universities entered the ranking—twice as many as last year and more than three times the 2020 level. Kazakhstan is now the absolute leader of the macro-region (for comparison: Uzbekistan — 8, Azerbaijan — 5, Georgia — 3, Armenia — 1).

Asfendiyarov KazNMU became the first medical university in Central Asia to be represented in the THE global ranking.

Coursera Global Skills Report 2026:

Kazakhstan ranked 55th globally out of 98 countries in the new AI-Human Skills Synergy Index, ahead of Azerbaijan (65th) and Uzbekistan (93rd).

The national AI-Sana project was officially included in Coursera's report as a model case of state-led higher education transformation, uniting over 100 universities.

These indicators are direct proof that our strategy of integration into the global educational space, the development of human capital, and the mass implementation of artificial intelligence is yielding real results. We are confidently securing Kazakhstan's status as the premier educational and scientific-innovation hub of Eurasia.
