Chinese Technology in Türkiye and Uzbekistan: BYD Manufacturing Facilities
Chinese EV giant BYD has expanded its global footprint through major investments in Türkiye and Uzbekistan. In 2024, the company announced a USD 1 billion factory in Manisa, Türkiye — a move that grants tariff-free access to the EU market. Meanwhile, in Uzbekistan, BYD is developing EV and battery production facilities to serve Central Asia, supporting the region’s green transition and industrial modernization. These investments position the Turkic world as a strategic hub in China’s global EV supply chain, strengthening economic ties while enhancing political leverage for both Türkiye and Uzbekistan in a multipolar world.
