The United States has resumed daytime airstrikes on Iran, marking a new escalation in the ongoing conflict centered around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy shipments.
According to information from US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including missile systems and coastal defenses, aimingto reduce Tehran’s ability to threaten commercial vessels passing through the waterway. The renewed hostilities come after a series of attacks on shipping in the strait, which Washington attributes to Iran.

The situation has deteriorated rapidly following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement which were also linked to negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. Both sides accuse each other of violating the deal, and diplomatic efforts have largely stalled.
Iran has responded by launching strikes against U.S. positions in the Gulf region and warning that it could block the key energy export route. Tehran has also threatened broader disruption to oil and gas flows, raising concerns about global supply and price stability.
At the center of the crisis is the Strait of Hormuz, through which a large share of the world’s oil passes. Recent hostilities, including reported attacks on commercial ships and the temporary closure of the waterway — have already shaken international markets and heightened fears of a wider regional conflict in which more countries would be dragged.

U.S. leadership has indicated that further military action is possible if Iran does not return to negotiations, while Iran insists it will not engage in talks under pressure. As tensions continue to rise, the risk of prolonged confrontation and its global economic consequences remains high.
